Liposuction:

One of today's most popular cosmetic surgical procedures is liposuction. Used to improve the appearance of the chin, neck, jowls, cheeks, arms, thighs, buttocks, knees, hips, breasts and abdomen, liposuction can improve a multitude of figure faults. The result is a thinner, healthier body that increases your confidence and self-esteem. When determining the ideal candidate for liposuction, general body condition is more important than age. Liposuction Options

The newest method of liposuction, Lipocontouring, combines ultrasonic-assisted liposuction (UAL) and power-assisted liposuction (PAL). Ultrasonic-assisted liposuction crushes and liquefies the fat cells before they are removed. Smart Lipo a newer compendium, allows for the use of small cannulas to assist in destruction of fat and subsequent removal with added skin contraction.

THE LIPOCONTOURING PROCEDURE

Prior to liposuction, tumescent fluid is injected into the areas for fat removal. The fluid helps separate the fat making it easier to remove and safer, thus minimizing bleeding and bruising. Many of the lipocontouring procedures can be done in the office facility, while larger volume removal may need outpatient surgery.

Ultrasonic-assisted Liposuction

This is a newer technique. Similar to suction-assisted liposuction, ultrasonic uses a hollow cannula to remove fat cells. The cannula is connected to an ultrasound generator that causes it to vibrate more than 20,000 times per second. This vibration causes the fat cells to rupture, allowing the emulsified fat to be removed easily.

Power-assisted Liposuction

This is another excellent tool to allow for removal of fat cells using a newer method of tumescent fat removal, which does not generate heat or burn skin. General intravenous or local anesthesia may be required. Recovery time can vary from a day to two weeks, depending upon the areas treated, the extent of fat removed and the general condition of the patient. Sometimes an overnight stay is required for large volume extractions.

SMART LIPO

Smart lipo has been advertised as one of the latest techniques in removing unwanted fat, and maybe an option to improve small areas in need of lipo contouring. Contouring techniques to help reduce fat involve small cannula suctioning in a controlled environment using skin contractility to give you a natural look, while not putting you at risk for skin damage.
